Howdy all! Happy day before official Independence Day 2024!

It's hot here! But such is this time of year. I run across people who seem to think this heat thing unusual. I disagree.
I'd be shocked if temps were in the 70's or 80's. Just won't happen. Never has as I recall. Summer heat is on full throttle. Gotta deal with it until Fall. I remind myself to hydrate and find shade or air conditioning when possible and just deal with it. No brainer, right? Ha

PRESENTING JULY 3rd WEDNESDAY READER:

LESLIE ELMAN'S TRIVIA AND FASCINATING FACTS
Are so interesting to me. Frankly, super fascinating.

QUICK QUESTION
What's the most beautiful place I have personally seen?
Hands down - the Grand Tetons. You?

COLLECTION OF OXYMORONS
Are make-ya-look-think-scratch your head and chuckle!
Might you have another 1 or 2 to add to the list?

EASY BUTTERMILK PIE RECIPE
Slice of delish. I like to top my slice of buttermilk pie with bananas. But strawberries and peaches are stellar as well.
Don't forget the fresh whipped cream. Deal breaker if you don't (unless you just dislike fresh whipped cream - that would be absolutely crazy talk to me - ha!)

Friday greetings this last day of May 2024.

May is going out - at least around here - with lots and lots and lots of rain. Seems like a crazy amount of rain, but probably last year was similar. Last May seems so far away. Ha

Stacy's World
Will be back next Friday - fingers crossed - depending on her busy schedule. I've had conversations with her and her upcoming columns/ideas are SO.MUCH.COOL.FUN. (!!)

Today's 5 for FRIDAY is a blast!

BEGINNING WITH:
Amazing flower artwork and "made ya laugh" cartoons.

QUICK QUESTION
What's the strangest room or building I've ever been in/to?
I could name several working on jobs in the film business: A giant Masonic Scottish Rite Temple, Haunted Mansion where a doctor lived equipped with an elevator that just decided to go up and down on its own, non-working Kentucky prison from the early 1800s. And a rental house that my sister, Jennie, and I lived at way back in the day.

However, the strangest, creepiest one was in an old, working Tennessee prison where we were shooting the film "Last Dance."

On a scout (meaning the entire crew was not present) we were scouting the various places in the prison we would be shooting. The warden took us down to this room which housed "Old Sparky" - as he referred to it. An old, heavy wooden chair that had char marks on it + other dark spots on it and leather tie down straps for arms and ankles. Yeah, it was a real deal electric chair. Observation glass windows, bright lights over the chair. There was even a bucket of water behind the chair for whatever they used that for (use your imagination - or perhaps you may remember the movie "The Green Mile").

The warden said, "Anybody want to sit in the chair?"
One of the grips grinned all tough like, said, "Yeah," and he sat down.
The warden nodded to someone behind the observation glass and the lights flipped on and off. That grip flew off that chair faster than a bolt of lightning. Scared the tar out of him.

The warden laughed hard. Guess it was one of their little pranks they play for amusement to dough-heads who volunteer to actually sit in "Old Sparky."

That room was super surreal - but very real. I'll never forget it.
Yours?

FLIGHT ATTENDANTS' HUMOR

Friday greetings!

It's been a good week around here. Lots of rain yesterday *again*
Just about the time I think I wanna whine about it, I stop myself short and remind me that I'll be wishing for it in less than 2 months throughout the full-on furnace of summer and early fall. So I'm growing in the stop myself short of whining arena.

Attitude adjustment: Yay. Hooray. RAIN!

My yard and trees are super happy and are showing it with lots of green + growth. That's what matters.

Presenting 5 for FRIDAY on this May 17
Super fun line-up today beginning with --

My fast 5 are:
The 2 F's (friends and family)
Quick wit = laughter
Home Sweet Home
Music
Seeing happy people
You?

TWO CHOICES
I love this story of Jerry the restaurant manager. So inspiring/encouraging.

RECIPE HIPPIE CHICK SALAD
Is a winner, winner, winner and a keeper, keeper, keeper.

Hello March and welcome!

As the old saying goes, "In like a Lion and out like a Lamb." We shall see.

The weather here for the past couple of weeks has been up and down like a yo-yo. I don't prefer one cold day over a warm day because I know in the very near future it's gonna be one daily temperature - HOT. And for months. Ha

I present to you Wednesday's Reader.

Know Your Value story will most likely resonate with everyone -- somehow. Super spot-on.

Oatmeal Cake with Lazy Daisy Icing is no-fuss, no-nonsense totally chill recipe that is enjoyed by one-and-all. Try it -- you'll like it.

Stephanie Hayes column on swimsuits is a terrific piece that absolutely had me cracking up!

Enjoy and have a grand day!

Greetings Monday. Hello happy people.

Well, tomorrow's Valentine's Day. Do you have a favorite Valentine's memory from when you were a kid?

I fondly recall what a blast it was to take an empty shoe box to school -- the teacher setting aside time for several days in a row when we got a break from chalkboard teaching -- and were set free to create and decorate our cool personalized Valentine's Day boxes.

Remember? The little mailbox sort of thing where classmates slipped a little card in - on the day.

Bonus! The party. Moms brought in sweet treats: cupcakes, punch, little sandwiches, candy.

Good times!

Happy Valentine's Day (!)

Scooped up these wonderful 12 for today. Click and enjoy the entertainment.

Dear Annie's sage thoughts to a Reader's statement.

So thrilled that you're here.
