5 for FRIDAY | MARCH 15

Friday Howdy to all!

Fun lineup today —

Beginning with STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP regarding Restoring Discolored Clothing.
Boy, oh, boy, do I totally have a couple pair of “favorite” jeans that I just haven’t been able to part with because we’ve been hanging out together a long time — however, they have aged and have that yellow tinge thing going on that Steph talks about in her column today.  I just dug them out from the top of the closet and they are so going to go in the recipe – to soak and see if they, too, will be revived as Stephanie’s jeans did!  Excited.

I also love Steph’s iron-on patch fix = a one-of-of-a-kind pair of jeans.  Ta-Dah!

Met Steph for lunch today, which was a super chill time and she gifted me a tank top that didn’t work for her (color wise).  Sure does for me!  And she purchased it from Temu.com.

I’m a Temu.com believer and will be shopping there more and more.

Thanks, Steph!  As always, you keep us in the know with your fun+valuable info.  Keep ’em coming, girl.

QUICK QUESTION
What do I hate throwing away?
Hands down – items I find in the ‘fridge that expired before I got to them.  Gotta be more diligent and I’m on that mission.

DOGS BETTER THAN WIVES
Story is brilliant.  Not sure I love the title all the way, but, whether we (as women/wives) want to admit — much of the list ’tis true.  Ha!

WEDNESDAY READER | MARCH 13

Wednesday greetings, all!

Super fabulous read today, beginning with:

QUICK QUESTION
Smartest person I know?  Can’t nail one specific person down right this second.  But I’m thinking.  You?

POP QUIZ + FASCINATING STUFF
Loads me up feeling smarter and more interesting.  Thanks to Leslie Elman.

JERRY CLOWER (!)
I love Jerry Clower’s down-home southern humor.  Always have and always will.  Enjoy “Play Pretties” in today’s episode.  It’s a hoot!

RECIPE
Grilled cheddar cheese + Bacon — on raisin bread.  Fantastic trio.  As far as what spread to put on the bread – I choose just straight up butter or mayo + fresh cracked pepper.

TRACY BECKERMAN’S COLUMN
“To All the Jeans I’ve Loved Before” is absolute tongue-in-cheek grins.

TOP OF THE MORNING | MARCH 11

Hello Friends –

How’s the daylight saving time working out for you Day 2?  Adjusted to it all the way yet?  It takes me two or three days to adjust/embrace it all the way because I, for whatever reason, play this little game with myself — Well, it’s 12:00 but it’s really 11:00 or vice versa when the fall comes and we fall back.  Weird?  I don’t know – not to me anyway.  Anybody else play this Daylight Saving Game for a day or two?

By the way, I’m totally late to the proper name of Daylight Saving Time.  I’ve always referred to it as Daylight Savings Time.  Won’t anymore now that I know.

Collected these today for inspiration + information + fun + and recipes worthy of a looksy.

BEGINNING WITH:

PHOTOS OF FORGOTTEN THINGS
That will instantly be recognizable to “Boomers”.  There’s something bouncing around in my memory box right now wondering, Did I already put this in a previous episode months ago or were you just thinking about it, Cheryl?  Unsure – nonetheless, a fun walk down memory lane for those of us who know have earned the title of “Boomer”.  My favorite take-aways from the piece were Tang (was never a big Kool-Aid fan as a kid, but I sure loved Tang), Columbia House member (hand raised here!).  Carbon paper sets for a manual typewriter – yep, used them.
The entire list is a super blast from the past.

PICTURES OF A FOREST PATH
Well, I chose #5 because I it was really pretty and wasn’t a little foreboding to me like a couple of the other path choices.  (I’ve probably watched or worked on too many shows where paths like those were creepy – caution tape – stuff.  Ha.)  Not sure that I agree with the “personality traits” that my choice of a forest path reveals about me… but it was a fun little quiz thing.

CLEVER HUMOROUS LICENSE PLATES
Were just that — Clever and Humorous.  And, yes, while sitting in traffic I do enjoy spotting a license plate like one of these.

SECRET WEAPON CALLED TOMATO CHICKEN BULLION

5 for FRIDAY | MARCH 8

Greetings Daymaker friends!

Great Wednesday Read to present today:  fascinating + fun + domestic goddess as a sandwich maker at home.

Beginning with —

STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP
Cool gardening tips.
I, personally, have more than a few clay or decorative pots outside just waiting for a new plant “to move in.”  Totally gonna happen as it will give my outdoor surroundings happy and beauty from now ’til the first frost of winter.
Sponges on the bottom of pot.  Check.
A little cinnamon mixed in with potting soil.  Check.
Coffee grounds sprinkled on top.  Check.

I do know my local Starbucks’ offer used coffee grounds in 5# bags free for the hauling – a gift from them to someone’s garden – because I’ve grabbed one or two while inside ordering a tall iced coffee or an iced chai latte, non-fat with 2 shots of espresso (my summer fav go-to).

So park, go inside, stand in line, order a cup of coffee or iced tea and look around and see if you’re lucky that there might be a bag or 2 of the used coffee grounds just waiting for you to grab and take home.  Score!

I’m on the hunt for a clear shoe bag for herbs to plant and hang.  I know exactly where I’m gonna hang my shoe-bag mini herb garden.

Such cool, trick ideas, Steph.  Thanks for another column of great, innovative ideas!

QUICK QUESTION
What motivates me?  Several things.  However top 2 on my list are hanging out with happy people and jumping out of bed every morning with passion, excited for the creative project I’m currently working on.

FILM CREW 101 – SCRIPT SUPERVISOR

WEDNESDAY READER | MARCH 6

Happy Wednesday!

March is sure rolling in fast and it’s been very pleasant temps thus far.  I’m in no hurry for the wrath of summer’s hot + humid temps so I’m a happy camper.

Super cool Wednesday Read to present today:

Beginning with —

LESLIE ELMAN’S TRIVIA AND FASCINATING STUFF
I sooo revisited Simon and Garfunkel’s,  “The Sounds of Silence” (*click and listen here*) I totally listened to Simon and Garfunkel a bazillion years ago as a teenager, but hadn’t listened to this particular song in a very long time.  It’s pretty.  And, nope, I didn’t know the answer to the Pop Quiz regarding what/where are the prophets words revealed in the lyrics of the song.  I’ll never forget now.  It was cool to relisten to the song.

QUICK QUESTION
Me?  Street smarts or Book smarts?   hmmmm — good question.  I enjoy reading a lot and always have.  And life experiences have also taught me to be Street smarts – as in traveling all around the country working on shows.  So, I’ll say Street smarts.  However, reading the pages of my favorite books also revealed in the tales to be aware of my surroundings via my favorite characters in books.  You?

I adore the PRICELESS GRANDPARENT STORIES!
Outta the mouths of kiddos is full-on laughter.

5 WORDS THAT START WITH “F”
Well, those came fun and fast to me.  Look, there are 2!  Ha

TOP OF THE MORNING | MARCH 4

Greetings!

Presenting this Monday’s collection of entertaining pieces of interesting + fun + delish.

Beginning with:

THE AMAZING MACHINES
Really cool watch of the machines that perform the tasks that contribute to our day-to-day mass living we absolutely don’t really wonder or think about — like donuts to spiral notebooks to milling machines to cleaning the tops of tunnels to crushing giant items for recycling  to – to – to …  Impressive!

SURPRISING ALUMINIUM FOIL USES IN OUR HOMES
Besides covering something we slide into the oven:  soften brown sugar!  Sharpen scissors!  Keep pots and pans shiny!  And more totally has my full attention.  Who knew that roll of Aluminum foil in the kitchen drawer is a secret weapon to combat so many things around the house?  Not me.  But now I do – and so do you.

HOW TO DEBONE A ROTISSERIE CHICKEN, EXPERTLY WITH NO MESS
Is genius!  Seeing + Doing = Believing.  Just a mind trip of  “why didn’t we think of this sooner” ?

WE ALL SEE COOL HUMOR AND HAPPENSTANCE IN OUR EVERY DAY WORLDS
Get your phone/camera race ready to click and capture when you see them.

5 for FRIDAY | MARCH 1

Hello March and hello friends –

March isn’t rolling in like a lion thus far.  Temps are supposed to be around 70 today.  But who knows?  Could change like lickety-split.  Regardless of what temps roll in today to the end of the month, I’m counting on March rolling out like a lamb and gently launching us into spring.

Super-duper fun read today!

Beginning with:

STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP
Once again (!) Stephanie  hooks us up with cool, DIY innovative ideas of things + pieces just waiting in a thrift store to be discovered, loved and become statement pieces here and there in our homes.  Welcome to the family, sort of thing!

I don’t happen to own an old suitcase – but now I’m on the hunt!  I love the vintage look of them.  And the beauty of another piece of eclectic added to my home.  Same goes for a basket with a moving handle.  Superness!

Genius, Steph!

DO I LEARN BY WATCHING OR DOING?
My answer is both.  I learn by watching and then doing.  The 2 work in tandem for me.  You?

WEDNESDAY READER | FEBRUARY 28

Happy Wednesday greetings, Daymakers!

Super fun line-up of interestings this final Wednesday of February 2024.

Beginning with —

Leslie Elman’s Trivia Tidbits.  I sure didn’t know where the oldest and longest boardwalk in the United States is.  As one who strives to walk 3 miles a day – 5 days a week – I’d sure love to put this on my walking bucket list.

Planner or Go-with-the-Flow?  I, personally, am a go-with-the-flow gal if I’m on a leisure kind of trip — unless I’m with a group of people who’ve established a go-see-do itinerary.  Then I’m cool with the whoever has got it all planned out.  And I’m in on the plan.

I almost feel sorry for the Burglar Who Couldn’t Find His Way Out.  Almost.  Ha

Epic Breakfast Oatmeal  I’ve been known to also drizzle on a little caramel sauce for a little something extra-extra.  Why not?  Delish!

Tracy Beckerman’s Puffy Face column cracked me up.  I’m totally in her tongue-in-cheek humor fan club!

5 for FRIDAY | FEBRUARY 23

Hello Mighty Readers!

Happy Friday.  Crazy how February’s flying by like a well thrown Frisbee.

Great line-up today –

BEGINNING WITH:

STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP

WOW!  Check out the one-of-a-kind chair we can all build/create.  Chic on the Cheap DIY!
No two will be alike!  Custom pieces of art created by you and me for sitting and hanging out purposes.  Eclectic rules.
First, Steph gives tips on where to find an inexpensive vintage chair (and give it a 2nd time around sort of thing) + finding the belts at thrift stores (another 2nd time around sort of coolness) and then how to assemble.
I am so gonna build one for my home.  I’m actually thinking of perhaps building several to put around my outside table for the summer time.
Steph gives us the step-by-step where to find and how to.   Once again – Steph presents a fabulous idea and we can all run with it and create with confidence.  Love it!
Thanks, Steph!

QUICK QUESTION

If I had the power to change one thing about my personality – hands down – would be patience.  I know that I have less than a lot of patience sometimes.  Wish I had it all the time.  Perhaps, I’ll strive for it a little harder.  What’s your one thing?

WEDNESDAY READER | FEBRUARY 21

Hello Wonderful readers on a beautiful, warm Wednesday – at least it is here.

March is getting closer – I see its timing in the sunrise, sunset and general feeling that spring is rolling our way.

We totally appreciate all of you for sliding by and spending a piece of your day hanging out + sharing + caring.

Catch ya on Friday with another fabulous episode!

Ready.  Set.  Read On.

TOP OF THE MORNING | FEBRUARY 19

Monday greetings magnificent readers!

How was your weekend?  All good here – save the part where I had to snap my self outta the spring-like temps and drip the faucets again and prepare for some more frigid temps – as in 26 degrees over night, two nights in a row.  Brrrrr!!!

Super fun Monday collection to share today –

First up is CICADAS ARE COMING but with dual emergence.  Is this the part where we might say YIKES!?
Being from Montana – we didn’t have Cicadas – however, now living in the land of Texas I’ve always enjoyed their rhythmic sound.  To me, it’s “the sound of summer.”

BACKYARD SMALL PATIO IDEAS are pretty darn outstanding.  And should a project like this be on your home to-do bucket list – now’s a perfect time to start planning ahead before summer’s furnace is full throttle.  Cool ideas to choose + create an outdoor living space just for you and yours.

Totally love SMART MOM’S LIST OF ADD-ON CHORES for babysitter to make a little extra dough while the kids are sleeping and waiting for the parents to come home.  Back in the day when I was babysitting – I would have taken smart mom up on her list and accomplished all on the list for $.  Brilliant idea smart mom.

TIMELESS CUTENESS is just that and more — timeless beauties that brought to me smile-smile-smile.  Whole lotta joy in the captured pieces of another time, another place of others.   Hope you have a few minutes to give them a scroll-through.
